Advanced Technology

Embryoscope

An Embryoscope is a specialised incubator, designed specifically for the culture of human embryos, which has been fitted with a time-lapse camera. This camera takes many images of each embryo during its time in culture, which results in a video of each embryo’s development.

Fertility North pioneered the use of the Embryoscope in Perth and we are incredibly proud of the extensive work we have completed in developing and publishing our success.  Your Fertility North Specialist will be able to discuss the benefits of time-lapse culture in accordance with your individual circumstances.

Ovarian Rejuvenation

Ovarian Rejuvenation therapy is a new, experimental procedure, registered as a Clinical Trial, that may stimulate the growth of new eggs in the ovaries of women who have been previously unable to conceive due to:

  • Premature ovarian failure (early menopause).
  • Suboptimal response to hormone stimulation (low egg numbers during IVF or ICSI or low AMH).
  • Advanced maternal age.

Endometrial Receptivity Analysis (ERA ®)

The Endometrial Receptivity Analysis (ERA®) is a diagnostic test used to determine the optimal time of a treatment cycle for embryo transfer to take place.

During a mock embryo transfer cycle, a small sample of tissue is taken from your endometrium (the lining of the womb) using a specialised sampling kit.  Once the biopsy has been taken, it is sent to the laboratory of Igenomix, where the test was developed more than 10 years ago.

G-CSF Instillation Procedure (GIP)

An intrauterine G-CSF instillation procedure (GIP) involves the injection into the uterine cavity of Nivestim™ in a procedure that is technically the same as an intrauterine insemination procedure and very similar to an embryo transfer procedure

Mechanical Endometrial Injury (MEI)

Mechanical Endometrial Injury (MEI) is a simple procedure performed on the endometrial lining by one of the Fertility Doctors at Fertility North.

During an MEI, the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) is gently scratched by a thin catheter called a pipelle.

In Vitro Maturation (IVM)

In Vitro Maturation, or IVM, involves collecting eggs from a patient’s ovary when the follicles are still small and the eggs within them are still immature.  The eggs are then grown in the laboratory using a solution of growth factors to help them mature, before they undergo insemination and fertilisation using ICSI.

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT)

Pre-implantation Genetic Testing, or PGT, is a highly specialised laboratory procedure that enables us to check an embryo for chromosomal and genetic abnormalities.

PGT enables us to identify the genetically normal embryos to use for treatment.

RI Witness System

RI Witness is an electronic witnessing system used in the laboratory, designed to minimize errors that may occur during fertility treatment cycles.

This electronic witnessing system supports and guides our Embryologists by monitoring sample movement from one dish or tube to another within the laboratory.  In doing so, RI Witness can identify mismatches before they happen, preventing them from occurring.
